Former Officer Shares How TASER Devices Protect Lives On and Off Duty

My first name is Kate and I was an officer for just under ten years.

I used [a TASER] pretty much every day, whether it was using the warning arc that usually made people surrender, or actually using the probes. And I've seen it used by my partners many times, and it's been incredibly effective.

I've used them my whole career, thankfully. We started out with the TASER X26P. And that was something that made our career so much easier in a lot of ways - knowing we can control a scene without risk of loss of life or the community or our officers was a huge advantage to having it.

I have a TASER. I don't run anymore because of my injuries, unfortunately, but when I used to go running or just walking at night, I have a handheld TASER that I'm very fond of.

I have three sisters and I encourage them to carry it. I think TASER’s a huge asset in so many aspects of life.
