My first name is Paul and I retired ten years ago, but I did 27 years on the job.
I was blessed in my career. I was with an agency and I got to be part of ushering in the use of TASER for our department, and it was fantastic.
I say this, maybe the greatest endorsement I ever heard for TASER is one of my guys one time—one of the people who used it on patrol—they said that if I ever had a choice between leaving my duty weapon at home or leaving my TASER at home, I'd rather leave my duty weapon at home because people respected that TASER. They understood it.
Most people knew you weren't going to shoot them if they were just giving you a hard time, if you were in trouble. But they knew that TASER came with a lot more authority and they respected it. It made the job easier to do. So in my personal life, I’d 100% rather use a TASER to disable someone or disarm someone than to have to take their life.
Protect the life you’ve built.
