We recently had a chance to sit down with Meaghan Acker, the founder of Megallgood™. Her chic Crossbody Bag is specifically designed to keep a TASER Bolt 2 or StrikeLight 2 easily accessible.
Meg, thanks for joining me today! Let’s start our conversation by you telling us a little bit about your background and Megallgood.
Growing up (and still to this day), my dad cared about me and my safety more than anything else in the world. He taught me to be self-aware and equipped me with this hyper-vigilant mindset, while also being there for me every step of the way. Before I even owned any safety devices, I felt I was destined to create a company to help others develop this mindset. After buying my first TASER [device], I immediately thought about the reality of carrying it in a discreet yet fashionable way. I wanted a bag designed to hold personal safety tools that could be accessible within seconds, but found nothing.
That’s when Megallgood was born.
The name Megallgood was inspired by the code word, MAG, which my dad would text me daily. MAG quite literally means, "Meg, all good?" It was his super simple, quick and effective way for him to check on me. My hope is that when people look down at their Megallgood bag, it gives them the same sense of comfort my daily MAG texts gave me.
When did you first become aware of TASER Self-Defense?
I had heard of TASER Self-Defense, but didn’t know the full extent of products or about the company before I started Megallgood. It wasn’t until I met a self-defense trainer who worked with TASER Self-Defense that I realized there was a device that I could realistically use and feel more confident handling than other options out there. He explained to me the different device options and how I can be trained on them to feel confident. Ever since the day after I purchased my Bolt 2, I have carried it on me. It was about 1 year after I purchased it that I launched Megallgood.
How did you first become involved with TASER Self-Defense?
From the day the idea of Megallgood was born, I literally had the dream of working with TASER Self-Defense because their product is WHY I designed this patent-pending bag. I not only loved the product, but living in Phoenix myself and knowing they had a HQ here locally, it was almost too good to be true. From the launch of my product, I wanted to let them know how their products inspired me to create something to help people carry their devices. When I got that opportunity, it honestly felt unreal, but it was such a perfect partnership that it felt so right. I am so grateful they took a chance on a local small business that shares the same vision of empowering people with safety devices. Together, our customers feel even more prepared & confident.
What perceptions or myths about TASER energy weapons do you believe people have, or previously had?
A perception a lot of people have is that a TASER product would be too big or unrealistic to carry every day. In reality, the designs are compact and designed for everyday carry. Pair that with a Megallgood bag and you can easily carry your device while keeping it accessible within seconds.
What do you wish everyone knew about TASER devices?
My absolute favorite thing to tell people about is the safe escape replacement! I wish more people knew that TASER Self-Defense is such an amazing company that they already have a plan for you if you ever have to deploy your device. They want you to do what is needed to get to safety as soon as possible, which includes dropping your device and running. They will replace the device free of charge, so you have total peace of mind when purchasing that they have your back through and through!
What are the most important questions you believe people should ask when it comes to personal protection and safety?
- Do I have a way to realistically use this device? Meaning, have you been trained on it, do you have a Megallgood bag that gives you quick and easy access to your device (not buried at the bottom of a purse or stroller, etc.)
- Do I feel confident? When you feel confident, your whole posture and energy change, and that makes you less likely to be targeted. But if you’re fumbling for a device or worried about where it is, that shows. Megallgood is designed to keep a TASER device secure, accessible, and comfortably on your body so you can move through your day calm, confident, and prepared. If you don’t feel confident, get training, work your way up through safety tool options so you can be fully prepared and give yourself the best possible outcome.
- Am I doing anything to put myself at a disadvantage should someone be targeting me?
- Head buried in your phone texting, not having self-awareness
- Headphones on while out alone, limiting one of your major senses that would alert you to danger.
- Posting your location or running route on social media for anyone to see.
- Taking the same exact walking route every day makes you predictable, which someone who wants to target you will love. Don’t be predictable!!
