The Pillars of Safety for Self-Defense

My name is David Wright and I am the Chief Instructor of TASER Training.

Self-Defense

Let's just talk about self-defense. First and foremost, you are responsible for your own self-defense. You must take responsibility for your safety and the safety of your family. You - not a firearm, not pepper spray, and not a TASER device - you are the first line of defense.

Pillars of Safety

Let's talk about the pillars of safety very briefly.

1. Non-Victim Mindset
First and foremost, you must have a mindset that you will not be a victim. You will not surrender to violence. And you will have a plan to defend yourself and those that you love.

2. Situational Awareness
Second, you must be situationally aware at all times. When you're out and about, be aware of your surroundings. When you're at home, make your home bulletproof, so those wishing to do harm to you cannot penetrate your home.

3. Skill Proficiency
Third - skill proficiency. Whether it be a skill, a tactic, or a weapon operating system. Become proficient with it. We highly recommend you utilize the Certified Instructors of the USCCA.

4. Physical Fitness
And lastly, be physically fit. The more physically fit you are, the more capable you are to handle stress and possible violent encounters.

You are responsible for the safety of yourself and your loved ones. Develop a plan now.
